{"id":26700,"date":"2026-10-02T12:11:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T12:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mobilemall.co\/blog\/?p=26700"},"modified":"2026-10-02T12:11:05","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T12:11:05","slug":"samsungs-smartthings-app-just-got-a-new-look","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mobilemall.co\/blog\/samsungs-smartthings-app-just-got-a-new-look\/","title":{"rendered":"Samsung&#8217;s SmartThings App Just Got A New Look"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SmartThings redesign is on Android now. <strong>Version 1.8.51.30 is live on the Google Play Store and the Galaxy Store<\/strong>, and if you don&#8217;t see it yet, the rollout is staggered so give it a few days. iPhone users got theirs first, on 29 September as version 1.7.51, which is an odd order of events for a Samsung app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-changed-on-the-home-tab\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Changed On The Home Tab<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"550\" src=\"https:\/\/mobilemall.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/smartthings-redesign-hits-iphone-before-galaxy-phones-1024x550.webp\" alt=\"SmartThings Redesign Hits iPhone Before Galaxy Phones\" class=\"wp-image-26702\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Devices and routines now sit in smaller, denser cards, so more of your house fits on one screen without scrolling. <strong>Tapping the icon on a card switches the device on or off, or runs the routine, with no menu in between.<\/strong> You can resize any card if you want a bigger target to hit, and drag them into whatever order suits you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There&#8217;s a panel at the top called SmartThings Now that shows weather, energy use, TV shortcuts, care alerts and automations it thinks you&#8217;ll want. Below that is Favorites, which is just your pinned devices and routines kept together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One addition that hasn&#8217;t been mentioned much: <strong>Routine Insights pulls out your three most-used routines and shows their recent activity.<\/strong> Useful if you&#8217;ve built a dozen routines and lost track of which ones are actually firing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Devices tab got the same treatment, and the navigation bar is now a floating one. The TV remote has been redone too, with a light mode and controls you can move around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-3d-home-map-has-been-reworked\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The 3D Home Map Has Been Reworked<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"566\" src=\"https:\/\/mobilemall.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/smartthings-3d-home-map-1024x566.webp\" alt=\"SmartThings 3D Home Map\" class=\"wp-image-26707\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;ve used the mapping feature, where you enter room dimensions and drop in 3D models of your furniture and appliances, that process has changed in this version as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-samsung-sound-is-being-shut-down\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Samsung Sound Is Being Shut Down<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Samsung launched a separate Samsung Sound app a few months back for controlling its Wi-Fi speakers and soundbars. <strong>That app is being discontinued and its controls are moving into SmartThings<\/strong>, which is the right call. Two apps for one house never made much sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-hasn-t-been-touched-yet\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Hasn&#8217;t Been Touched Yet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The redesign stops at the top layer. Individual device plugin screens and the deeper sub-menus still look the way they did, so expect a bit of a mismatch when you tap into a specific device.
