Apple has been working the other side of that date for weeks already, and the developer side is where the launch will be won or lost, <a href=\"https:\/\/mobilemall.co\/apple-iphone-fold\">because a $1,999 foldable<\/a> with stretched-out apps is a bad week for everyone involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/mobilemall.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/iphone-duo-apps-are-announced-1024x576.webp\" alt=\"iPhone Duo Apps are announced\" class=\"wp-image-26786\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-developers-can-submit-iphone-duo-apps-to-the-app-store-now\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Developers Can Submit iPhone Duo Apps To The App Store Now<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apple has opened App Store Connect to apps built for the foldable, along with guidelines on adapting layouts, navigation and controls for the two screens. <strong>The one requirement that matters is Xcode 27.1, which has been out since September 18 and includes an iPhone Duo simulator<\/strong> that reproduces the device&#8217;s folding poses and orientations without the hardware in hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-apps-built-with-xcode-27-1-get-a-badge-on-the-app-store\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apps Built With Xcode 27.1 Get A Badge On The App Store<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any app built or recompiled with the new Xcode gets a label on its App Store listing telling buyers it has been optimized for iPhone Duo. That badge is likely to do more for a smaller developer than any marketing push, since people who have just spent two thousand dollars will be checking for it before they download anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a catch on the back end. <strong>The Duo ships on iOS 27.1, a version built for the foldable alone, while every other iPhone is already moving to iOS 27.2.<\/strong> Apps still compiled against the iOS 26 SDK need at least an iOS 27 update before they get basic Duo support at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-new-apps-must-include-an-iphone-duo-screenshot-from-april-2027\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Apps Must Include An iPhone Duo Screenshot From April 2027<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apple is also writing the device into its submission rules. <strong>Starting April 2027, every new app submitted to the App Store has to include a screenshot of the app running on an iPhone Duo.<\/strong> Existing apps are not caught by that yet, but it sets the direction, and the screenshot size in App Store Connect was how developers first worked out the inner display&#8217;s dimensions back in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-apple-is-running-in-person-workshops-for-developers\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apple Is Running In-Person Workshops For Developers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"575\" src=\"https:\/\/mobilemall.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/iphone-duo-apps-1024x575.webp\" alt=\"iPhone Duo Apps\" class=\"wp-image-26784\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For anyone who finds the simulator isn&#8217;t enough, Apple has opened sign-ups for a four-day hands-on iPhone Duo workshop. Developers build and test their app on a real Duo, work through the folding poses, and get the layout sorted with Apple engineers in the room. Figma and Sketch design kits for the device are also up on Apple&#8217;s design resources page for the design side of the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The time between now and October 23 is the whole window.
