Galaxy XR reaches the UK, eight months after the US

British buyers can finally get Samsung’s Galaxy XR. The headset went on sale through Samsung’s UK online store this week at £1,699, after sitting on pre-order since June 17, and it’s the first market to get one outside the US and South Korea since the October launch. Roughly 230 days for the crossing, so “finally” is the right word: one colour only, Silver Shadow.

The price stings less next to the competition it’s actually chasing. Apple’s Vision Pro runs £3,199 in the UK, which makes the Galaxy XR nearly half the money for the same category of face computer – 4K Micro-OLED screens, Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, and around 2.5 hours of battery, so plan around a socket.

Samsung is also sweetening early orders with an Explorer Pack it values at £665. That’s twelve months each of Google AI Pro, YouTube Premium, Google Play Pass, Calm Premium, and Adobe’s Project Pulsar, plus NFL PRO ERA and the Asteroid immersive experience. How long “limited time” lasts, the press release doesn’t say.

The accessories are where Samsung expects the real spending. XR Controllers and the Travel Case cost £249 apiece, both 30% off until September 30. Buy the headset with any Galaxy phone before August 4 and the headset drops 10%; pair it with a Galaxy Watch or Buds by September 30 and those come down 10% too. Stack it right and the £1,699 sticker gets noticeably friendlier.
