Nothing will launch its first AI-native product in December, CEO Carl Pei confirmed in a post on X this week. That keeps a promise he made in September 2025, when the company said its first AI-native products would arrive in 2026.
Pei hasn’t said what the device is, which is very much how Nothing likes to do things, but he did drop a few hints along with a teaser image.
The Device Has No New Screen and Isn’t an App
According to Pei, the product “has no new screen, and it couldn’t have been an app.” That wording could mean it works with a screen you already own, like your phone, though Nothing hasn’t said so. He described it as “a tool, but one built with the personality and care that have come to define a Nothing product.”
The teaser image doesn’t give much away either. It shows the Nothing logo next to a black device with a rounded corner and curved edges, and that’s about all you can make out.
Pei Says Making Its Own Hardware and Software Gives Nothing an Edge
Pei also wrote that Nothing was in a good position to build this kind of product because it designs both its hardware and its software under one roof. In the same post he describes AI growing into something that works on our behalf while still being a productivity tool, and he suggests that new technology tends to win people over at work before it makes its way into homes.
Don’t Expect the Rumored Smart Glasses Just Yet
Nothing is also rumored to be working on AI-powered wearables, including smart glasses with and without cameras. Pei seemed to play down a link to wearables in his post, though. He said the whole industry is hunting for its “iPhone moment” with pendants, pins, glasses and companions, and added, “I admire the boldness, but I read this moment differently,” TechCrunch reported.
There’s no exact launch date, name or price yet, so we’ll have to wait until December to see what Nothing has built.
