Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Officially Launched

The new Samsung Galaxy S24 series phones all come with LTPO displays that can adjust their refresh rate from 1-120Hz. This is a welcome upgrade even for the base S24 model. The S24+ also now has an improved QHD+ resolution display, making the experience very close to the more expensive S24 Ultra.

In terms of size, the S24+ is roughly the same dimensions as last year’s S23+ model, just slightly larger. It also packs a 200mAh bigger battery with 4,900mAh capacity. An important upgrade is that all S24+ models now come with 12GB of RAM, the same as the Ultra. Storage options are 256GB or 512GB.

Samsung was quiet about the chipsets though. The S24 Ultra will exclusively use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processors, but the S24 and S24+ will only get those chips in certain regions. Elsewhere they will be powered by the new Exynos 2400.

The vanilla S24 also has a slightly larger 6.2″ display and bigger 4,000mAh battery now. However, it sticks with FHD+ resolution and charging remains capped at 25W wired. The S24+ supports faster 45W charging. Using the proper chargers, the S24 can hit 50% battery in 30 mins while the S24+ can reach 65%.

One disappointing aspect is that the base S24 still only comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. On the bright side, Samsung is promising 7 years of software support and security updates for the entire S24 lineup.

In terms of cameras, the S24 and S24+ feature the same triple camera setup as before – 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP 3x optical zoom telephoto. The front camera remains 12MP.
