Samsung sets Galaxy Unpacked for 22 July in London, teases a “new shape” of foldable

Samsung has confirmed its next Galaxy Unpacked, and this time the summer show moves to London on 22 July. A short teaser video pinned the date, carrying the tagline “A New Shape Unfolds” over a ticket that folds open into the Galaxy AI logo. The wording, and the shape of that ticket, all but say the next Fold is coming.

The stream starts at 2 PM BST, 9 AM EDT and 3 PM CEST across Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom and the company’s YouTube channel. If you want the pre-order perks, registration is already open at samsung.com/unpacked ahead of the event.

Now the part Samsung hasn’t actually said out loud. Every device name floating around right now is a leak, not official. What the reporting keeps landing on is a bigger-than-usual foldable lineup: three foldables, including a Galaxy Z Flip 8 and a Galaxy Z Fold 8, plus two new watches and possibly Samsung’s first smart glasses. The interesting wrinkle is that “new shape.” The Fold is rumoured to go shorter and wider than any previous model, and multiple outlets describe a passport-style Fold 8 with a 5.4-inch cover screen and a roughly 4:3, 7.6-inch inner display that behaves more like a small tablet, sitting alongside a traditional tall-and-narrow model that’s being tipped as the Fold 8 Ultra.

Why bother splitting the line in two? Samsung would be shipping two book-style foldables at once for the first time, one built for the crowd and one aimed at Apple’s expected foldable iPhone later this year. Set the standard before the rival shows up.

None of the wider stuff is cheap, if the pricing chatter holds. Leaks put the Fold 8 starting near $1,999 to $2,100, which would make it Samsung’s priciest mainstream phone yet, with the Ultra sitting above that. Worth taking with the usual pinch of salt until the 22nd, when the real numbers land.
