New iPhone Colours Turn Up On Video Two Days Before Apple’s Event

A short clip doing the rounds appears to show iPhone 18 Pro demo units sitting in a shop, filmed before anyone was supposed to see them. The video comes from leaker yeux1122 and shows the iPhone 18 Pro Max in Dark Cherry alongside an iPhone 18 Pro in blue. Apple’s event is on 9 September, so the timing is either very sloppy or very deliberate.

Dark Cherry is meant to be this year’s attention-grabbing colour

Every recent iPhone generation gets one shade Apple pushes hardest, and last year that job went to Cosmic Orange. Dark Cherry, sometimes called Burgundy, is the one taking that slot this time: a deep wine red with purple undertones rather than a bright red. Mark Gurman first mentioned it back in February, and there’s been a small argument online since about how dark it actually is, with a Weibo leaker insisting the deeper of the two circulating mockups is the accurate one. Going by this video, the deeper version won.

The blue is the other surprise. It reads noticeably different from the Deep Blue on the iPhone 17 Pro, lighter and cleaner, which is why some leaks have called it Sky Blue instead.

The third colour is still up for argument

Here’s the part nobody has pinned down. Dark Cherry and the blue show up in every leak, but the neutral shade is contested – some sources say Black, others say Silver, and Sonny Dickson’s leaked SIM tray photo points to Silver with no black option at all. For reference, the 17 Pro shipped in Cosmic Orange, Silver and Deep Blue, so a straight swap would keep Silver.

As for the phones themselves, don’t expect a redesign. The 18 Pro and Pro Max look near enough identical to last year’s models, and the colours are the most visible change. The rumoured upgrades are internal: a main camera with variable aperture, the A20 Pro chip, a new modem, and slightly bigger batteries. Apple is also expected to show its first foldable iPhone at the same event, which will probably take most of the attention anyway.
