It’s official now. Xiaomi has sent out invites for the Redmi Note 17 series launch in India on August 6, livestream starting 12pm IST. Microsites are already live on mi.com and Amazon, and Redmi is marketing the phone as the “mAhster Edition”, which tells you exactly what they’re leading with: the battery.
Here’s what’s already confirmed or heavily leaked for the Indian model:
- 8,000mAh battery, confirmed by Redmi itself, same as the Chinese unit
- TrueColour AMOLED display, size and refresh rate still unconfirmed for India (the Chinese version runs a 7-inch 120Hz panel)
- Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 with 8GB RAM and Android 16, per a recent Geekbench run, presumably HyperOS 3 on top
- 50MP main camera and 8MP selfie shooter, matching China
- First sale expected August 11
For reference, the Note 17 launched in China on July 14 starting at CNY 1,299, roughly Rs 18,000 for the 6/128 base. Indian pricing lands on stage on the 6th, and given the battery-first marketing, expect Xiaomi to spend most of that livestream on the 8,000mAh number.
