vivo S2 teaser is live: ‘flagship inspired design’, seven years after the S1

The S series is back in India. vivo has started teasing the S2 through its Indian site and social channels, with an Amazon and Flipkart microsite already up showing the phone in a white finish with a dual rear camera. That’s a long gap being bridged here – the original S1 arrived in India back in August 2019, and nothing carried the name since.

What vivo has actually confirmed is thin but deliberate: flagship-inspired design, power-packed performance, stunning photography and videography, immersive audio-visual experience. Marketing lines, all four. The design is the one thing you can judge yourself from the promo page, and it borrows heavily from the X300 FE, minus the ZEISS branding and with two cameras on the back instead of three. An earlier teaser poster even hid the pill-shaped camera module inside the word “Soon,” which is a decent bit of poster design honestly.

What the leaks add is a lot more specific:

  • Launch on August 6, first sale August 11, per tipster Abhishek Yadav – vivo itself has only said “coming soon”
  • 6.59″ curved OLED, 120Hz, 1.5K resolution
  • 7,000 mAh battery with 80W charging
  • MediaTek Dimensity 7360, the same chip inside the V70 FE
  • 50MP Sony main plus 50MP periscope telephoto, 32MP selfie, 4K video on both front and rear
  • 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB configs, in Regal Bronze, Sapphire Blue, and Silk White, priced between INR 45,000 and 50,000 (roughly $520 to $580)

That last pairing is the story if it holds. A periscope zoom and a 7,000 mAh cell under $600 would undercut most of the upper mid-range, though the Dimensity 7360 means gaming crowds should look elsewhere. Full specs land within days if the August 6 date is real.
