Samsung’s New Foldables Are First in Line for Android 17’/s Upgraded iPhone Switching Tool

Google is finally putting real muscle behind poaching iPhone users. The upgraded Android Switch migration tool, first shown off at the Android Show I/O Edition 2026, is now live, and Google has confirmed exactly where it lands first.

Samsung’s freshly launched trio leads the queue. The Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra and Z Flip8 are all carrying the new tool out of the box. On Google’s own side, it is rolling out to the Pixel 8, Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series running Android 17. And a small sting for older Pixel owners, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series are not getting it at all. Google says support for more Android devices is coming in the months ahead, so the list will grow.

The transfer list is the genuinely impressive part. The tool pulls over your Google Account, passwords and passkeys, app data, Wi-Fi credentials, alarms, device settings, home screen layout, iMessage history, Voice Memos, eSIMs and even WhatsApp chat history. The eSIM and WhatsApp entries matter most in practice, those two were the reason half the fence-sitters never made the jump. The excuses for staying on an iPhone are running out one by one.
