Vivo V80 Is Now Coming To More Countries

A week after the V80 went on sale in India, vivo has put out a press release saying the phone is heading to Southeast Asia, the Middle East and “other regions.” So the V80 is a global phone now, not an India-only one, though vivo says the price, the storage options and even some specs will change depending on the country.

The Global Colours Are Different From India’s

Buyers in India got Horizon Blue, Stellar Black and Sunrise Anthem. The global list keeps Sunrise Anthem and swaps the other two out, so outside India it comes in:

  • Starwish Purple
  • Wander Green
  • Sunrise Anthem
  • Vast Gray

Malaysia looks like one of the first stops, since the phone cleared that country’s SIRIM certification under model number V2648 before the India launch had even happened.

The Battery Is The Real Upgrade Over The V70

The processor hasn’t moved. It’s the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 that was inside last year’s V70, which some buyers will find disappointing on a phone with a new number. The battery has gone the other way though, jumping from 5,400mAh on the V70 to 7,200mAh on the V80, with 90W wired charging to fill it back up.

The rest of the spec sheet reads like this:

  • 6.59-inch AMOLED screen at 1260×2750, 144Hz, up to 5,000 nits
  • 50MP main camera with OIS
  • 50MP periscope telephoto with OIS and 3x optical zoom
  • 8MP ultrawide and a 50MP selfie camera
  • IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance

Skip The 128GB Model If You Can

All three versions come with 8GB of RAM, and storage runs 128GB, 256GB or 512GB. The 128GB version uses slower UFS 3.1 storage, whereas the 256GB and 512GB ones get UFS 4.1, so the cheapest model will feel a step slower opening apps and saving video than the other two, which is worth knowing before the price difference tempts you.

vivo Is Promising Six Years Of Security Updates

The V80 ships with Android 17 and OriginOS 7 on top. vivo says it will get four major Android updates and six years of security patches, which is a long support window for a mid-range phone and probably the strongest reason to buy one over a rival in the same bracket.

No global prices have been announced yet. Those should come market by market as the phone reaches each country.
