Samsung Galaxy A08 Goes On Sale In India For Rs 18,499

Budget buyers in India can now pick up the Galaxy A08, a 4G phone Samsung first sold in a handful of global markets last month. It costs Rs 18,499 (roughly $210) for the only version on offer, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. You can buy it from Samsung’s own website, Samsung Exclusive Stores, partner retailers and the big online shops, including Amazon, where the listed MRP is Rs 26,999.

Samsung Is Promising Six Years Of Updates On A Budget Phone

For a phone at this price, the software promise is the headline. Samsung says the A08 will get six generations of Android upgrades along with six years of security patches. Cheaper Android phones have traditionally been dropped after two or three years, so a buyer keeping this handset until 2032 is a realistic plan on paper.

Storage Starts Small, Though A Card Slot Helps

Inside sits MediaTek’s Helio G99+, a 6nm chip paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. Sixty-four gigabytes fills up quickly once WhatsApp backups and photos pile in. A microSD slot takes cards up to 2TB, so photos and videos can be moved off the phone without paying for a bigger model.

The Display Is A 90Hz LCD Panel

Up front you get a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD running at 90Hz, protected by Gorilla Glass 5. An 8MP selfie camera sits in a waterdrop notch at the top. Around the back, Samsung has fitted a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots.

You Will Have To Buy The Charger Separately

The 6,000mAh battery supports 25W wired charging, but Samsung does not put a charger in the box. Anyone upgrading from an older phone with a slower brick should budget for a 25W adapter if they want the full charging speed.

The rest of the hardware covers the basics:

  • Side-mounted fingerprint scanner
  • IP64 rating against dust and splashes
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Dual 4G SIM support, with no 5G
  • Dark Blue, Green and Silver colours

Two Sister Phones Are Listed As Coming Soon

Alongside the A08, Samsung has listed the Galaxy M08 and Galaxy F08 on its Indian site with the same Helio G99+ chip and a 6,000mAh battery. Prices and sale dates for those two have not been shared yet, so anyone eyeing an online-only Samsung might want to wait a few weeks before settling on the A08.
