Foldables have had the same complaint for years. The big inner screen is great for reading and splitting apps, and then it drains the battery by mid-afternoon because there’s no room inside the hinge half for a proper cell. vivo’s answer in the X Fold6, which goes on sale in India on 13 October, is to put in the largest battery any foldable sold in the country has carried.

The X Fold6 has a 6,900mAh battery, 80W wired charging and 40W wireless, in a body 9.4mm thick when closed and 228g. For comparison, that’s a bigger cell than most slab flagships, inside a phone that folds.

Why The Battery Is The Headline

Vivo X Fold6 battery

The capacity comes from vivo’s fifth-generation silicon anode cells, which pack more energy into the same space than older lithium chemistry and are rated to hold their capacity better over years of charging. vivo also claims its semi-solid electrolyte lets the battery keep working down to -20°C and even -30°C, which matters less in Delhi and more if you’re carrying the phone up to Gulmarg in January.

There’s a small quality-of-life feature in the charging too. The lock screen shows how many minutes are left until the battery hits 80%, and the battery settings page shows the estimate for a full charge, so you can decide whether a quick top-up before leaving the house is worth it.

The Inner Screen And What You Can Do With It

The main display is 8.02 inches, LTPO, 2,504 x 2,312 resolution at 424ppi, with a 1 to 120Hz refresh rate, and it reaches 5,000 nits at peak and drops to 1 nit for reading in the dark. The cover screen is a 6.51-inch AMOLED with the same refresh range.

Origin OS 7 on top of Android 17 uses that space for up to five apps at once: four in a split grid plus one floating. Two features worth knowing about before the rest of the AI list:

  • Snap and Go lets you photograph something like a plane ticket and send the details straight to your calendar.
  • Snap Note turns a photo of a whiteboard, handwritten page or slide into an editable note, and it can stitch several shots in sequence.

The rest is the expected set: a call assistant that screens and summarises calls when you can’t pick up, a recorder that produces searchable transcripts, and a natural-language search across Files and Notes.

It Works With Apple Devices, Not Just Android

This is the part most foldable buyers in offices will care about. The X Fold6 can connect to MacBooks, iPads, AirPods and Apple Watches, and it can AirDrop files to an iPhone, alongside the usual Windows and Android pairing. If your work laptop is a Mac and your phone is Android, that’s historically been an awkward combination, and vivo has built the bridge into the OS rather than leaving it to third-party apps.

Plug the phone into a monitor over USB-C, or connect wirelessly, and Desktop Mode gives you resizable, overlapping windows. The phone can also act as a USB webcam for a computer through the Office Kit feature.

Chipset And Cameras

Vivo X Fold6 Main Camera

Inside is the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a MediaTek chip tuned jointly with vivo, which the company says runs multitasking about 10% more efficiently than the previous generation.

The camera setup is a ZEISS-branded triple:

  • 200MP main camera, 1/1.4-inch sensor co-developed with Samsung, f/1.68, with CIPA 4.5-rated OIS. Portrait mode shoots at 23, 35, 50, 85 and 100mm equivalents.
  • 50MP 3x periscope telephoto (70mm), Sony LYT-602 sensor, also with OIS.
  • 50MP ultrawide, Samsung JN1 sensor.
Vivo Imaging Chip V3+

Video goes to 4K at 60fps in Dolby Vision through the vivo V3+ imaging chip. There’s a 20MP selfie camera on both the inner and cover screens. The phone carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water.

Price, Offers And The One Catch

₹2,19,999 (about $2,470) for the only configuration, 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, in Nebula Teal or Prism Black. Pre-booking is open now and sales start 13 October through vivo.com, Flipkart, Amazon and partner stores. Launch offers include cashback of up to ₹26,400, an exchange bonus of up to 10%, no-cost EMI for up to 24 months, and three months of Google AI Pro with 5TB of cloud storage.

Vivo X Fold6 Specification

The catch is that price. Last year’s X Fold5 launched at ₹1,49,999, so this is a jump of ₹70,000 in one generation, and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra currently sells for ₹1,94,999, about ₹25,000 less. The X Fold6 has the clear edge on battery and charging speed, and whether that’s worth the gap over Samsung is the question most buyers will be weighing before Monday.
