Huawei launched the Pura 70 series back in April before AI became the industry’s favorite buzzword. Now phones are catching up to the trend with the latest software updates. The Pura 70 Ultra flagship got a firmware update that adds an AI Image Expansion feature.
Huawei’s flagship smartphone, the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, is receiving a significant upgrade with the rollout of its latest software update, introducing the highly anticipated AI Image Expansion feature. This update brings advanced image enhancement capabilities, further elevating the phone’s already powerful photography experience.
AI Image Expansion adds more to an image, expanding its field of view. The feature can be found in the Gallery app when an image is selected. The Edit icon now has the AI Image Retouch option, and then it can Expand Image.
The editing tool comes with HarmonyOS 4.2.0.176 and a July 2024 security patch and is 347 MB big. The update is hitting a limited number of phones in China, but we expect it to reach international units soon.
The AI Image Expansion technology uses machine learning algorithms to intelligently analyze and upscale photos, improving clarity, detail, and resolution in older and newly captured shots. This feature will be handy for users looking to enhance lower-resolution images or expand their photos without compromising on quality. It also assists in filling in missing details when images are cropped or resized, ensuring that pictures remain sharp and vivid.
In addition to AI Image Expansion, the update enhances the camera’s overall performance by optimizing color accuracy, improving night mode, and refining portrait photography with better subject-background separation. These upgrades align with Huawei’s reputation for pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography.
The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra already boasts a powerful camera system with advanced AI-based features, and this new update reinforces the device’s standing as a leading choice for mobile photography enthusiasts. The AI Image Expansion feature, combined with its high-end hardware, will provide users with an even more versatile and capable tool for capturing and enhancing their photos.
This update is being rolled out in phases, and users can check for its availability through the system settings on their devices.
