Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 back in July at the Galaxy Unpacked event. Now, it looks like we’re getting another addition to the lineup with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Rumors have been swirling for a while, and a recent leak hints at some key improvements – especially regarding the display crease, which should be less noticeable than on the regular Z Fold 6.
Tipster Ice Universe mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) that Samsung has done a “good job” with crease control on the Special Edition, making it better than ever. While there aren’t too many details yet, this improvement is likely one of the main selling points for this new variant.
Spec-wise, leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will be a thinner version of the Z Fold 6, possibly measuring 10.6mm thick when folded compared to the Z Fold 6’s 12.1mm thickness. There’s also talk about a wider cover display and continued support for the S Pen. The camera could be a massive 200MP sensor, which would be a standout feature.
The internal display is expected to be larger, too, at 8 inches, compared to the 7.6-inch screen on the regular Z Fold 6. The external display is expected to increase to 6.5 inches, up from 6.3 inches. Plus, there’s speculation that it will have a titanium frame for added durability.
It’s important to note that this Special Edition might be limited in availability, likely focused on China and South Korea. There were earlier rumors that it could be called the Galaxy Z Fold Slim or Galaxy Z Fold Ultra, but for now, it looks like the Special Edition moniker is sticking. We’ll have to wait and see when it gets its official launch, which could be anytime before the end of the year.
