Pantone has announced its Color of the Year for 2025, a warm and inviting shade called Mocha Mousse. As part of their partnership with Pantone, Motorola is bringing this trendy color to two of its phones—the Edge 50 Neo and the foldable Razr 50 Ultra (known as the razr+ 2024 in the US).
This marks the second year in a row that the Razr series gets a makeover in Pantone’s chosen color, following last year’s Peach Fuzz. It’s interesting to see Motorola continuing this collaboration, and I think Mocha Mousse is a great pick for these devices. Pantone describes the shade as a “warming brown hue” that evokes the comforting essence of cacao, chocolate, and coffee. Motorola says it chose this color for its versatility and appeal, calling it a stylish option that promotes connection and self-expression.
The Mocha Mousse finish isn’t just about aesthetics, though. Motorola has gone the extra mile by incorporating a soft inlay inspired by coffee grounds, adding a tactile element to the design. However, the Edge 50 Neo will still keep its grey Grisaille frame, which might be a bit of a missed opportunity for a fully cohesive design.
Motorola hasn’t shared specific details about pricing or availability for these Mocha Mousse variants, nor do we know which memory configurations will be available. For now, they’ve confirmed the color will launch in select markets globally.
I’m personally curious to see how well this warm brown tone resonates with customers. It’s a bold move, but I think the comforting and natural vibe of Mocha Mousse could really click with those looking for something unique and cozy in their tech.
