In early November, the Oppo A5 Pro received its certification for sale in China through TENAA, and now it’s almost time for its official debut. Oppo has announced that the unveiling take place on December 24 at a special event in China.
The company has been building up the excitement by teasing the A5 Pro’s design and colors. It will be available in three options: Quartz White, Rock Black, and Sandstone Purple. From what we’ve seen so far, these finishes look sleek and modern.
Oppo has also dropped hints about the phone’s durability, leading me to believe it might feature IP68 or IP69 certification for dust and water resistance. That would be a step up from the IP54 rating we saw with the A3 Pro launched earlier this year in June.
As for the specs, TENAA’s certification details reveal a 6.7-inch FHD+ display, which should offer a good viewing experience. The phone is expected to come with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. Camera-wise, it’s said to have a 50MP main rear camera accompanied by a 2MP decorative sensor and a 16MP front camera for selfies.
With these features, the Oppo A5 Pro seems to be shaping up as a solid mid-range contender. I’m particularly interested to see how the durability claims hold up and whether the performance can match the hype. December 24 isn’t far off, so we’ll find out soon enough.
