Samsung Galaxy S24 FE to be more expensive than its predecessor

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 FE is expected to launch either towards the end of this month or in October. It will arrive with a downclocked version of the Exynos 2400 chip, the same charging as its predecessor, a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with 120 Hz refresh rate, 1,900-nit peak brightness and Gorilla Glass Victus+ on top, a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultrawide, an 8 MP 3x optical zoom telephoto, a 10 MP selfie camera, and a 4,565 mAh battery. Oh, and a price hike.

    Reasons for the Price Increase:

    • Upgraded Hardware: The Galaxy S24 FE is rumored to feature significant upgrades, including a more powerful processor, improved cameras, and possibly a larger battery. These enhancements can drive up the manufacturing cost, reflected in the final price.
    • Inflation and Supply Chain: Global supply chain challenges and inflationary pressures have affected the pricing of components, which is likely being passed on to consumers.
    • Premium Features: While still positioned as a value-for-money option in Samsung’s lineup, the S24 FE may come closer to flagship pricing due to enhanced displays, faster refresh rates, and better build quality.

Although it is expected to be more expensive than the Galaxy S21 FE, the Galaxy S24 FE is likely to appeal to those looking for a premium Samsung experience without the full flagship price of the Galaxy S24 series. The exact pricing details are yet to be confirmed, but the higher cost reflects Samsung’s continued focus on delivering advanced features in the FE lineup.

According to a new rumor from a usually reliable source, the Galaxy S24 FE in Europe will be €100 more expensive than the Galaxy S23 FE was upon launch. That’s a pretty hard pill to swallow if this pans out, especially as you’re not getting any extra memory or storage either: the base model S24 FE will still only have 8GB of the former and 128GB of the latter, just like the S23 FE did.

So, the Galaxy S24 FE with 8/128GB will be priced at €799. The S23 FE last year started at €699. The ‘vanilla’ Galaxy S24 is currently retailing in Europe for around €799 with the same RAM/storage amount, while the S24+ is currently under €999 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. So why would anyone choose the S24 FE over either of these? That’s a good question, isn’t it?
