The Galaxy S25 series brought a surprising addition to the stage—a slimmer Galaxy Edge variant. It’s been years since Samsung used the “Edge” moniker, which was last seen with the Galaxy S7, but it’s back, and it seems like a perfect fit for this new design.

From what we saw at Unpacked, only prototypes of the Galaxy S25 Edge were showcased, suggesting that Samsung is still refining the device. Rumors hint at a consumer launch around April, but for now, the specs are under wraps. That said, there’s plenty to unpack about its design.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is unbelievably thin—possibly the slimmest flagship we’ve seen yet—with a chassis measuring just 6.4mm. That’s a mind-blowing number, and the design makes it clear how they achieved it. The secret? It might lie in the camera setup.

Unlike its S25 series siblings, the Edge has a unique dual-layer camera system. The first layer is a thick camera island, and on top of that sit the two lenses. This two-step design appears to help keep the overall profile ultra-thin.

While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, experts speculate that the S25 Edge will pack a 4000mAh battery—similar to the regular S25. If true, it would be impressive, but there’s a catch. For Samsung to fit that battery into such a slim frame, they might need to adopt Silicon-Carbon (Si/C) battery tech instead of traditional Lithium-ion.

As for performance, it’s safe to assume the S25 Edge will feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, keeping up with other 2025 Samsung flagships. Samsung seems to be positioning this device as a direct competitor to Apple’s iPhone 17 Slim, and it’s making waves as Samsung appears to have beaten Apple to the punch in the ultra-thin phone category.

Of course, the final product might look slightly different from the prototypes shown on stage. Samsung could make minor adjustments, but the goal of achieving a 6.4mm thickness will likely remain unchanged.

If everything goes as planned, we could see the Galaxy S25 Edge hit the shelves by April. It’s an exciting addition to the lineup, and I’m curious to see how Samsung balances this sleek design with real-world usability.
