There are growing reports that the biggest upgrade coming with the Galaxy S26 series will be its battery capacity. Samsung seems to be recognizing that the competition is catching up, with many Chinese brands already offering 6000mAh or even 6500mAh batteries in various markets.

A major shift could be the use of Si/C Li-ion batteries instead of standard lithium-ion cells. Chinese manufacturers have already adopted this technology, and the results have been promising. These batteries allow for higher capacity without increasing size, which explains why some newer smartphones are getting thinner despite housing larger batteries. There’s speculation that Samsung may have already introduced this tech in the Galaxy S25 Edge.

From what’s circulating in leaks, the Galaxy S26 lineup could feature 6000mAh or even 7000mAh batteries, with the Ultra model possibly getting the highest capacity. However, as with all leaks, it’s wise to take this information cautiously until multiple sources confirm it.

Interestingly, some reports suggest that Samsung isn’t stopping at Si/C batteries. The company has been working on a new battery standard that could outperform Si/C, addressing concerns like shorter lifespan and faster degradation. With Samsung now offering over 7 years of OS support, it makes sense that they want their batteries to last as long as their software.

The Galaxy S25 series was widely criticized for lacking major hardware upgrades, so boosting battery capacity in the S26 series seems like a logical step forward. For now, I’ll be keeping an eye on further developments as we get closer to the official launch.
