For months the One UI 9 beta was a Galaxy S26 thing only. Samsung opened that programme back in May and has pushed seven beta rounds through it since. Owners of 2025 phones have been watching from the sidelines. That ended today.

Those are the models Samsung named in its announcement. The Galaxy S25 Edge is missing from the list, and Samsung hasn’t said whether it gets a beta at all or simply waits for the finished update. The S25 series is first in the queue, with its build already out.

Samsung lists India, South Korea, the US and the UK, but the first build has only landed in three of them

Reports so far place the update in India, the UK and South Korea. The US is named in the announcement, so it should follow, and going by how the S26 rollout went, Germany and Poland are likely additions later. Samsung hasn’t published a full region list.

The first beta is a 3.8GB download carrying the August 2026 security patch

Firmware ending in ZZHL and DZHK, roughly 3,861MB, which is normal for a first beta that moves the phone to a new Android version. On board are a rebuilt Quick Settings panel with more customisation, DeX improvements and new accessibility options. Some One UI 9 features from the Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 won’t make it to the S25 because the hardware can’t support them.

You sign up through the Notices section of the Samsung Members app

Install Samsung Members on an eligible phone, open Notices, and enrol from the beta banner there. The build arrives over the air afterwards. No banner means your region isn’t live yet.

The wait for the finished version should be short

Samsung ran the S26 beta for months, but the S25 test looks like a matter of weeks. Stable One UI 9 for the S26 is expected within a couple of weeks, with the S25 family following a few weeks behind that. Anyone nervous about beta software on a daily phone loses very little by sitting this one out.
