The Z Fold7 came out last July. A successor is already a few months away. So a price cut would make sense — clear out inventory, push the older model, basic retail logic. Samsung went the other direction.
Both the 512GB and 1TB models got bumped up in the US. The 512GB now sits at $2,200, up from $2,120. The 1TB version moved from $2,420 to $2,500. Only the base 256GB stayed put at $2,000.

Not a massive jump on paper, but this is already one of the priciest phones on the market. Paying more for a device that’s about to have a newer version sitting next to it on shelves is a tough sell.
The obvious question is whether the Z Fold8 launches at an even higher price point this July. Component costs aren’t exactly trending down right now, and Samsung probably isn’t absorbing that difference out of goodwill. If the Fold7 mid-cycle pricing is any signal, the Fold8 starting price might be uncomfortable reading for anyone already stretching their budget for a foldable.
