The Tecno Camon 40 Pro is set to arrive in Pakistan soon, with its official launch scheduled for April 5th. Right now, the phone is available for pre-order in a single 8/256 GB configuration. But before you decide to reserve yours, here’s what you should know about this new mid-range device.

At first glance, it might seem like the Camon 40 Pro is a major upgrade over its predecessor, the Camon 30 Pro, but the device’s hardware mix makes me question how well it will perform in the competitive mid-range market. The Camon 40 Pro does bring some improvements, like a slightly larger 5200mAh battery (up from 5000mAh in the Camon 30 Pro). However, it has dropped the 70W fast charging from last year, now offering only 45W. Tecno claims the phone will still charge from 0-100% in 43 minutes, but the drop in charging speed is noticeable.

There’s speculation that the company might be using new Si/C anode technology for faster charging at lower wattages, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed. Another significant downgrade is the camera department. The 50 MP ultrawide from the Camon 30 Pro has been replaced with an 8 MP ultrawide lens, which is a real letdown for those who were expecting a more capable camera setup. However, the 50 MP main camera and 50 MP selfie camera remain intact, so the phone still delivers solid photography performance for the price.

The 6.78” AMOLED display on the Camon 40 Pro has also been downgraded from 144Hz to 120Hz, which may not make a huge visual difference, but it’s still a cut that could disappoint some users. On a positive note, Tecno has made significant improvements in durability. The previous Camon 30 Pro didn’t have much in terms of screen protection or water resistance, but the Camon 40 Pro comes with a Gorilla Glass 7 panel for better shatter resistance and an IP69 rating, making it water and dust-resistant.
In terms of size, the Camon 40 Pro is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor. It has a 7.3mm thickness (down from 7.6mm), and it’s also lighter at 188.6g (compared to 178g on the Camon 30 Pro), which should make it more comfortable to hold for extended periods.

The official price of the Camon 40 Pro in Pakistan is still unknown. We’ll likely get confirmation of the price on April 5th, during the official launch. Stay tuned for more updates once the phone hits the market.
