TECNO’s latest budget offering, the Spark 40C, has arrived in Pakistan. The headline features? A massive 6000mAh battery, 128GB storage, and a smooth 120Hz display—all for PKR 26,999.

That Battery Though
Let’s talk about the 6000mAh battery first, because honestly, that’s what makes this phone stand out. Most phones at this price give you maybe 4500-5000mAh if you’re lucky. But 6000mAh? That changes things.
Here’s what it means practically: wake up at 7 AM, stream music during your morning routine, doom-scroll through Instagram on your commute, make calls throughout the day, watch YouTube over lunch, play some PUBG in the evening, and you’ll probably still have 20-30% left at bedtime. Maybe more if you’re not glued to your screen constantly. The charging situation is decent, not spectacular. There’s 18W fast charging included. Won’t blow your mind with speed—you’re looking at about 2.5 hours for a complete charge. But throw it on the charger while you shower and get ready, and you’ll have enough power to get through most of your day.
Storage and Memory: Finally Enough Space
128GB storage. Thank goodness TECNO didn’t cheap out here with 64GB. Because let’s be real—64GB fills up embarrassingly fast these days. Between WhatsApp media, Instagram, a few games, and your camera roll, you’d be deleting stuff constantly. With 128GB, you’ve got breathing room. Install whatever apps you want. Keep your photos. Download some Netflix shows for offline viewing. You won’t hit storage warnings every other week. The RAM setup is interesting. There’s 4GB of actual physical RAM, which… okay, that’s on the lower end. But TECNO adds another 4GB through this extended RAM feature. Basically, the phone carves out part of your storage and pretends it’s RAM. It’s slower than real RAM, sure, but it does help keep more apps alive in the background. What does this mean for you? Less reloading. Open Chrome, switch to Instagram, check WhatsApp, go back to Chrome—and your tabs are still there. Not always, but more often than with just 4GB.

The Processor: Gets the Job Done
MediaTek Helio G81 powers everything. It’s not going to break any speed records. But speed records aren’t really the point at this price. What it does well: basic tasks. Scrolling social media feels fluid. Apps open quickly enough that you won’t notice any lag. Web browsing works fine. Video playback? No issues whatsoever. Gaming is where things get interesting. Casual games run perfectly. More demanding titles like CODM or PUBG? They’ll run, but you’ll want to dial down the graphics settings. High frame rate modes might stutter. Stick to medium settings and you’ll have a good experience. For everything else—and by everything else, I mean the stuff you do 90% of the time on your phone—it’s perfectly adequate.
Durability Features That Matter
An IP64 rating means dust doesn’t get in, and water splashes won’t kill it. Not waterproof, mind you. Don’t take it swimming. But rain? Spills? Wet hands? No worries. TECNO says it survives 1.5-meter drops. That’s roughly from your hand while standing. They’ve reinforced things internally so the phone absorbs impacts better. Does this mean it’s indestructible? Obviously not. But it gives you better odds than phones without this protection. The Wet Touch Control feature is genuinely useful. Ever tried using your phone with wet fingers? Normal touchscreens completely freak out. This one keeps working. Sounds minor until you actually need it.

Four colors available: Titanium Grey, Veil White, Ripple Blue, Ink Black. The finishes look surprisingly good for the price bracket.

Display: Smoother Than You’d Expect
6.67 inches with HD+ resolution. The resolution is 1600×720, which isn’t razor-sharp if you look closely. But most people won’t care or notice at normal viewing distances. The real star here is 120Hz. Double the standard 60Hz refresh rate. Everything just… flows. Scrolling feels buttery. Animations look polished. Even just navigating the home screen feels more responsive. Once you experience 120Hz, going back to 60Hz honestly feels janky. This is typically a mid-range or flagship feature, so seeing it here at under 27K is pretty impressive.
Audio Setup
Dual speakers instead of the usual single bottom speaker. Creates actual stereo separation. Watching videos or playing games, the sound comes at you from two directions, which makes everything more immersive. They’re DTS-certified, which is basically a quality stamp saying they meet certain audio standards. Volume Plus 2.0 cranks up the maximum volume while keeping distortion under control. Are these going to replace your earbuds? Definitely not. But for speakerphone calls or watching videos without headphones, they’re significantly better than what most budget phones offer.
The Extra Stuff
IR blaster on top lets you control your TV, AC, pretty much anything with an infrared receiver. Set it up once through the app, and boom—your phone’s now your universal remote. Surprisingly handy.
The AI features are hit or miss depending on what you need:
ELLA AI is TECNO’s voice assistant. Does the usual stuff—set alarms, answer questions, control phone functions. Works fine if you like talking to your phone. Hi Translate does real-time translation. Point your camera at text in another language, it translates on screen. Or use it during conversations. Useful for travelers or students. AI Writing helps draft messages and emails. Can suggest completions or rephrase things. Some people will use this constantly, others never. AI Call Noise Reduction filters background noise during calls. Actually pretty effective—the person you’re talking to won’t hear all the traffic or cafe chatter around you.
The Four-Year Promise
TECNO claims this phone stays smooth for four years. That’s… ambitious for a budget device. Most phones at this price start showing their age after 18 months or so. Will it actually last four years? Hard to say. Depends on how many apps you pile on, whether you keep your storage organized, and if TECNO actually provides software updates down the line. But making that claim at all suggests they’ve done optimization work to prevent the usual slowdowns. We’ll see if it holds up.
