Vivo launched the V80 in India on Monday at its Vivo Next 2026 event, and the headline number is the battery. At 7,200mAh it is the largest cell vivo has ever put in a V-series phone, up from the V70, and it still charges at 90W over a wire. The other number people are talking about is the price, which starts at Rs 62,999, roughly $710.

What You Get For The Money

The screen is a 6.59-inch AMOLED, so this is on the compact side for a 2026 phone, with Full HD+ resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 5,000 nits peak brightness. The body is an aluminum frame with a glass back, 7.79mm thick, 210g in the hand, and it carries an IP69 rating, which covers high pressure hot water jets rather than just a dunk in the sink.

Cameras are where vivo has spent most of its effort. The rear setup is Zeiss branded and runs three sensors:

  • A 50MP Sony LYT 700V main camera with OIS, recording 4K at 60fps
  • A 50MP Sony IMX882 telephoto with OIS and 3x optical zoom
  • An 8MP ultrawide, which is the one corner that got cut

The front camera is 50MP with autofocus, which matters more than it sounds for anyone who shoots a lot of video of themselves.

The phone runs Android 17 with OriginOS 7 on top, making it one of the first in India to ship with the new OS. The in-display fingerprint reader, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and eSIM are all present.

The Catch Is The Chip

Inside is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, which is the same processor the V70 used a year ago. vivo has paired it with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, and there is no 12GB option. At Rs 62,999 that is a hard sell against the iQOO 15R and OnePlus 15R, both of which run faster silicon in the same price bracket. For someone who wants the camera and two days of battery, the V80 makes sense. Anyone who games will feel the difference by week two.

The three variants are 8GB/128GB at Rs 62,999, 8GB/256GB at Rs 69,999, and 8GB/512GB at Rs 79,999. Colours are Horizon Blue, Stellar Black and Sunrise Anthem. Sales open on October 13 through Flipkart and vivo’s own store.
