WhatsApp is testing notification bubbles on Android. WABetaInfo caught it in a recent beta build — floating circle icons that sit over whatever’s on your screen when a message comes in.
Facebook Messenger already does this. A bubble appears with the contact’s profile photo, a small WhatsApp icon layered on top. Tap it, and a compact chat window opens right there. You never have to actually leave what you’re doing or pull up the full app. Android has had the underlying support for this since version 10, so it’s not like WhatsApp is building from scratch here.

Practically speaking, you’re mid-video, two group chats are going off, and you don’t want to keep jumping between apps. The bubbles let you reply and get back to it. Each one is its own floating shortcut.
No public rollout date. Beta users will almost certainly get it first before it reaches everyone.
