The Xiaomi 17 lineup dropped in September, but one model’s still MIA. The 17 Ultra won’t show up until early 2026, according to current expectations. Right now, we’re gathering details from leaks and regulatory paperwork.
Certification Reveals Connectivity Upgrades
Chinese regulators just certified the device, and the public filings show two notable features coming to the 17 Ultra.
Satellite Communication
The phone connects to Tiantong-1 and Beidou satellites. This means calls and texts work without cellular towers.
Dead zones won’t be an issue. Mountains, rural areas, network failures—the phone routes through satellites when towers aren’t available. It’s practical for emergencies or remote travel.
Ultra-Wideband Arrives
UWB is new for Xiaomi’s Ultra series. The technology handles precise positioning and runs on frequencies used for 5G in markets like the United States. Think car unlocking, device tracking, spatial awareness between gadgets.
Two Models Exist
The certification lists model 25128PNA1C. But September’s Chinese Radio certification showed a different code. Two versions are coming.
Xiaomi did this with the 15 Ultra too. Standard practice for them.
China Version
Model 25128PNA1C includes everything. Satellite access via Tiantong-1 and Beidou. UWB support. Full feature set.

International Version
The other model skips satellites. Makes sense—those systems are Chinese infrastructure. International buyers won’t have access anyway. UWB availability depends on which markets Xiaomi targets.
Timeline and Remaining Unknowns
Launch sits somewhere in early 2026. One camera leak surfaced before this certification. That’s all we’ve got so far.

Certifications typically appear months before retail availability. More filings will surface as launch approaches. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed anything officially yet.
