Xiaomi Redmi A1 Plus To Launch Soon With 5000 mAh Battery

The successor to Ultra-budget Redmi A1 arrived in Kenya’s smartphone market last week after a string of leaks. The phone is called Xiaomi Redmi A1+ and comes with a bonus security feature as well as a semi-premium design and a powerful MediaTek Chip. It also has a large battery.

The brand’s budget entry to subcontinent is now on its way. The company’s usual debut cycle suggests that the Plus edition Xiaomi Redmi A1 could also be arriving on Pakistani shores soon after its Launch in India on October 14th. Here is a complete overview of the features.

You can judge from the images that the Redmi A1 Plus is just a re-design of the base A1 with an added fingerprint scanner on the back. The phone has soft black, blue, and green shades on a leather texture backplate to give it a premium appearance.

The phone is affordable, but it feels solid and has a few decent specs. The company claims that the large 5000mAh battery will provide 30 hours of video playback, and 30 days of standby. This is the device’s main selling point.

The display setup is second; a flat 6.52-inch IPS screen with HD+ resolution, 400nits maximum brightness, 120Hz touch sampling speed, and 70% NTSC colors gamut. The black bars at the sides of the screen look a little chunky. The upper bezel houses a 5-megapixel selfie camera.

Redmi A1 Plus is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 processor. It comes pre-equipped to store 3GB of LPDDR4X, 32GB of MMC 5.1 storage and a PowerVR GPU for visual graphics and gaming.

The camera setup is a bit underwhelming here. The system uses a primary 8MP sensor and a secondary 0.3MP depth sensor to record 1080p videos at 30FPS. But it might compensate for photography using AI features baked into its lightweight Android 12 GO UI. Its 3GB plus 32GB variant expectedly costs around 19,000 PKR.
