iOS 18 feature walkthrough on iPhone 16.

Apple iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max come with the latest available Apple iOS 18 pre-installed. While Apple tried to present this new iteration as one of the biggest redesigns, it doesn’t feel that big in day-to-day use. However, allowing for deep personalization options across the home screens and the interface does have the potential to make the UI rather unique and different, something which has been lacking on iOS through the years.

All iPhones will get at least five years of iOS updates, which has been an Apple thing for years.

Apple iOS 18 introduces advanced personalization options for the home, lock screens, and the Control Center. There are a couple of new apps, such as Journal and Passwords, and a more advanced Calculator. The Photos app has been redesigned, and the Note and Camera apps have been improved. Apple Intelligence is coming soon, too.

Siri also gets a significant upgrade in iOS 18 with contextual awareness. Now, Siri can remember past conversations and provide more personalized, relevant responses based on the context of your request. This makes Apple’s voice assistant smarter and more integrated with your daily routine. It’s also compatible with third-party apps, giving users more flexibility in how they use Siri.

Health monitoring takes a step forward with AI-powered insights. Leveraging the iPhone 16’s advanced sensors, the Health app can now estimate blood pressure, analyze sleep patterns in more detail, and even monitor mood through facial recognition. These insights are designed to offer users personalized health tips and help them improve their overall well-being.

For the first time on iPhone, Split View multitasking makes its debut. This feature allows users to open two apps side by side, transforming the way people multitask, especially on the iPhone 16’s larger display. Whether you’re working on emails while browsing the web or checking messages during a video call, Split View makes handling multiple tasks at once more seamless than ever before.

The home screen has also become more interactive with Quick Actions, which lets users perform certain app functions without fully opening the app. For instance, you can reply to messages or control music directly from your home screen, speeding up common tasks.

Augmented reality (AR) takes a leap forward with iOS 18, thanks to the power of the iPhone 16’s A18 Bionic chip. With the upgraded ARKit 5.0, users can enjoy more immersive AR experiences in apps, games, and shopping. The iPhone 16’s enhanced cameras and LiDAR sensor provide sharper, more realistic AR interactions, making the virtual world feel even closer to reality.

Privacy and focus modes also see improvements in iOS 18. Focus 2.0 allows for more detailed customization, adjusting settings based on location or time of day to ensure you stay undistracted when needed. On the privacy front, App Privacy Reports offer transparency into how apps are using your data, while more processing occurs directly on the device, keeping personal information safer.

Apple has also revamped the Messages app to support live collaboration, allowing users to co-edit documents or plan projects directly within a conversation thread. Whether it’s for work or personal use, this new feature makes collaboration smoother and more intuitive.

The next-gen Face ID feature now allows users to unlock their phone from wider angles and even in landscape mode, offering more flexibility in everyday use. And the Photos app has been updated with 3D Memories, which uses AI to create dynamic, immersive compilations of your favorite photos and videos, bringing your memories to life in a new way.

iOS 18 will come pre-installed on the iPhone 16 and will be available as a free upgrade for older models later this year. With a blend of new features and enhanced functionality, iOS 18 sets a new standard for what users can expect from their iPhone, making the device smarter, faster, and more personal
