Remember that January rumor claiming the Galaxy Z Flip8 would somehow drop to 150 grams? Ice Universe didn’t buy it then, and now the same tipster has put out what looks like the final word: the Flip8 comes in at 180 grams and 6.1mm unfolded. That’s 8 grams off the Flip7’s 188g. Not dramatic, but real, and on a phone that lives in front pockets, grams count.

The thickness number needs a footnote though. OnLeaks jumped into the replies to clarify that 6.1mm excludes the rubber bumper bezels around the inner display, and with those counted the effective figure is closer to 6.6mm – which is roughly where the Flip7 already sits. So slimmer on the spec sheet, near identical in hand. Folded, the math works out to about 13.2mm against the Flip7’s 13.7mm.

The weight cut is the cleaner win here, and it fits the wider picture of this generation. Other leaks point to a less visible crease on the main display and charging finally moving from 25W to 45W, while the cover screen, battery capacity, and cameras reportedly carry over. One cost-saving catch: the Flip8 is said to keep the older M13 display material rather than the brighter M14 panel going into the Galaxy S26, apparently to hold the retail price down.
Official numbers land either way soon. Samsung’s Unpacked is confirmed for July 22 in London, nine days out.
