We’ve got the first proper look at Apple’s foldable iPhone, and it’s shaping up to be a bit odd. Someone’s leaked CAD-based renders and technical drawings – the kind that accessory makers use to build cases – and they show a phone with some seriously weird proportions.

The big takeaway? Apple really doesn’t want that inner screen to be square. When you unfold it, you’re looking at a landscape display. Makes you wonder if they’re planning to let iPad apps run on this thing without developers needing to change anything, though that’s just a guess on our part.

The numbers tell the story. That inner folding screen hits 7.76 inches diagonally at 2713×1920 resolution. The cover display is 5.49 inches with 1422×2088 pixels – which is a pretty strange aspect ratio if you think about it. Folded up, the phone measures 120.6 x 83.8 x 9.6 mm. Unfolded, it stretches to 120.6 x 167.6 x 4.8 mm.

There’s an in-display selfie camera buried in the main screen, while the cover gets a hole-punch cutout for its front camera. Round back, you’ll find two cameras sitting in an oval-shaped bar that looks a lot like what we saw on the iPhone Air.
Apple might show this off in September, but don’t expect to actually buy one until early 2027 if the recent rumors pan out.
