Instagram Lite taken down
Nearly two years after its initial launch, Instagram Lite is not any longer supported and has vanished from the Google Play store. The app was available in 13 markets and offered the essential utility of the complete Instagram app during a much smaller package of just 573 kB (kilobytes), quite 50 times smaller than the full-fledged Instagram app. Some notable omissions within the Lite version were the shortage of direct messaging and IGTV videos. Users who have the Lite version of Instagram are now prompted to download the official Instagram app.
Not all hope is lost however as Facebook confirmed its plans to transform Instagram Lite supported feedback from users and release a replacement version within the future. With no specific timeframe provided, however, we wouldn’t hold our breath.
