Apple is preparing to release a completely redesigned iPhone SE in 2025, and I’ve got to say, the biggest change is the removal of the home button. For me, this marks a real shift in the look and feel of the SE line, moving it closer to Apple’s flagship iPhones like the iPhone 14 and 15. It’s clear Apple is aiming to modernize the SE, and this new design will include a full-screen display with slim bezels, which should offer a more immersive experience.

The home button has been a big part of what made the SE feel familiar to a lot of users, myself included. But with this redesign, Apple is likely ditching Touch ID and replacing it with Face ID, following what they’ve done with the higher-end models. It’s a move that feels inevitable, but I know some users who prefer the simplicity of the home button might be a bit disappointed.

Beyond the design, the 2025 iPhone SE is expected to come with a more powerful A-series chip, which should mean better performance and efficiency. I’m also expecting upgrades in the camera department, improved battery life, and support for Apple’s latest software features—all while keeping the SE as a more affordable option in their lineup.

This redesign feels like a big evolution for the SE series, which has always catered to those of us who liked the older, more classic iPhone design. With the home button gone, the SE is really stepping into the same sleek, button-free look we see in the rest of Apple’s lineup, but at a lower price. Apple hasn’t confirmed the specifics yet, but I’m definitely curious to see how this new version will compare to its predecessors.
