Elon Musk’s X Money is now live for Premium and Premium+ subscribers

Took long enough. X Money was first promised for 2024, then slipped to an April 2026 target, and it has now finally rolled out nationwide to all US Premium and Premium+ subscribers as of July 27, after an invite-only beta phase. US only for now, and you need to be 18 or over.

What subscribers actually get:

  • A laser-engraved black metal Visa debit card, tied to your X handle if you want it on there
  • Free instant transfers to any other X Money user, no fees or limits
  • 3% cashback on eligible X Card purchases and zero foreign transaction fees
  • Free ATM withdrawals worldwide
  • Wire transfers, checks, bill payments, and direct deposits up to two days early
  • Apple Wallet support, with a virtual card issued automatically

The headline 6% APY comes with a catch: Premium+ subscribers get it outright, while regular Premium users have to meet direct-deposit requirements first. X isn’t a bank either. Deposits sit at Cross River Bank, an FDIC member, insured up to $250,000, and Premium+ users can stretch that to $10 million through a sweep program that spreads balances across partner banks.

X Money Card

One thing to know before parking real money here: as of launch, X hasn’t published a Truth in Savings disclosure, so the exact conditions behind that 6% rate aren’t in writing yet.

Payments were the last big missing piece of Musk’s everything-app plan. That piece is in place now, for paying subscribers at least. A wider rollout is the obvious next step.
