Google finally put a month on it. At the Pixel 11 launch in India, the company confirmed the Fitbit Air lands in the country sometime in October, closing out a wait that started back in May when the tracker went on sale in the US and India got nothing.
Plenty of people didn’t wait. Imports and grey market listings filled the gap, which is usually the sign a launch is overdue.
Quick refresher on what it is: a fitness tracker with no screen at all. Just a small pebble on your wrist, about 12 grams, tracking 24/7 heart rate, AFib alerts, SpO2, resting heart rate, HRV and sleep stages, with everything readable in the Google Health app instead of on the band. Whoop popularised the format and half the industry has followed. Google claims a week per charge, and says five minutes on the cable buys you a full day.
The band had already cleared BIS certification in June, so the October date is the last missing piece. Well, almost the last.
Price is still blank. Google says that’s coming closer to launch, and going by the US figure of $99.99 you’d expect somewhere near Rs 9,500, though Indian pricing rarely converts that neatly. Worth factoring in the subscription too: Google Health Premium runs $9.99 a month or $99 a year, free if you’re already on Google AI Pro or Ultra. The tracker works without it. Whether it’s worth much without it is the question buyers should be asking in October.
