Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Review

Samsung launched the Galaxy Buds2 earphones this month along with the Galaxy Z Fold3 & Galaxy Z Flip3 smartphones. We were given a pair of the new earbuds and are ready to share our review. So grab a Sunday beverage and relax as we discuss the experience.

The Active Noise Cancellation technology was borrowed from the Galaxy Buds Pro but the new earphones remained modest in speaker size. They are therefore positioned as a successor to the Buds+ and not an evolution of the Pro.

Just like the Buds Pro or Buds Live, the new earbuds come in a square box. They were announced by Samsung as the lightest buds to date. However, they are very similar in real life. The Galaxy Buds2 are lighter than the Buds+ but feel just as light.

All Galaxy Buds2 phones come with a white case, regardless of which version they are. However, the interior of the case matches the paint job. The unit in Lavender looks amazing. It has the flashy color as an accent and saves you the hassle of matching your clothes to this color.

This battery has a solid capacity – 472mAh for the case and 61mAh per bud. With the ANC turned on, the Galaxy Buds2 can last for 5 hours. Without it, it can last 8 hours. If volume is between 80-90%, it can last up to 8 hours.

The Buds2 case supports wireless charging and can provide up to one hour of endurance in just five minutes.

Samsung galaxy is known for its excellent audio quality. This time, the manufacturer did everything possible to ensure that they had clear and crisp sound while talking. When we received the Buds, they couldn’t turn on Ambient Sound while on the call, but an update fixed this. Each bud has two outward microphones. One is facing the inside. A dedicated VPU filters external noises such as wind and cars.

It is also great to hear the other side’s voice. Conversation feels natural and easy, even when both sides are wearing masks.

The majority of earbuds are used for music or gaming. We are proud to say that these are the best TWS headphones for both. Samsung did not include a large tweeter or woofer in order to make the earphones more detailful and affordable.

Even better, the latency of the Buds+ is twice as low and the sound is wonderful in all three dimensions – lows mids and highs.

On paper, Active Noise Cancellation mutes 98%. In practice, the buds blocked most distractions easily. The rubber tips helped a lot. Samsung has also upgraded Ambient Sound. It now has three levels as before, but it includes some AI that adapts to the environment.

The Buds+ had sensitive edges around their touch area. The Buds2 look better and have no rubber “wings”. They also provide easier gesture controls: press and hold is programmeable, one tap is Play/Pause and two taps are Next song. Three taps are Previous song.

Samsung continues to build on its tradition of excellent TWS earphones, with the Galaxy Buds2. The Buds+ was a “well-worth it” product that we praised and have seen continue to improve. The Galaxy Buds Live provided a large battery, while the Galaxy Buds Pro made it feel premium. Now, the Galaxy Buds2 offers the best of both the line.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 were launched at EUR149/PS139/$150. The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 are a great choice for those who want a comfortable fit, long battery life and a pleasant sound. The Buds are worth the investment for music listening and phone calls. Galaxy Buds2 can be used to get TWS buds for these activities.
