Tecno and Infinix haven’t been known for their “Update Support” in the smartphone space, but it seems they’re finally working on addressing some of the concerns users have had over the years. At this year’s MWC event in Barcelona, Tecno introduced the Camon 40 phones, and soon after, they shocked many by guaranteeing 5 years of software updates.

With the Camon 40 series launching in Pakistan on April 5th, I’m excited to share this news. According to Tecno’s official announcement, all Camon 40 devices, whether released or yet to be released, will receive OS updates until Android 18, plus an additional two years of security updates. This is a big step forward for Tecno, and experts are calling it a bold commitment.
It makes sense that Camon 40 Premier, the most expensive device in the lineup, will get three years of OS support, as it’s closer to the flagship range. But what’s really impressive is that even the more affordable models—Camon 40 Pro, Camon 40 Pro 5G, and Camon 40—will benefit from this extended software support. Given the lower price points of these devices, this is a nice bonus, but only time will tell if Tecno can deliver on their promises.
Unfortunately, we don’t have full details on the frequency of security updates or how many updates the devices will receive each year. I’m hopeful that Tecno will release more information as the phones launch and software support continues.

The Camon 40 and 40 Pro are set to release in Pakistan on April 5th, and pre-orders are already open with a deposit of Rs. 5000. Both phones will come with Android 15 and HiOS 15 out of the box, and each has a solid 5200mAh battery, which supports 45W fast charging. The 50 MP rear cameras, powered by Sony LYT 700C sensors, should deliver excellent photo quality. The displays are AMOLED, with 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. One phone has a flat profile, while the other has a 3D edge panel.

While Tecno hasn’t revealed the price of the Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro in Pakistan yet, we won’t have to wait long—details should be available by April 5th. Stay tuned for more updates on these devices.
