Apple’s iPhone 17 Air Could Be the Thinnest iPhone Yet

Apple might be preparing to shake up its iPhone lineup in 2025 with a new device, the iPhone 17 Air. If the rumors are true, this model could replace the iPhone Plus, which hasn’t been a bestseller.

Initially rumored to be named iPhone 17 Slim, the “Air” branding feels more aligned with Apple’s focus on sleek and lightweight designs. According to a report from Hong Kong-based Haitong Investment Bank, this device could measure just 6 mm thick, making it the thinnest iPhone ever. For context, even the iPhone 6, which was once hailed for its slimness, measured 6.9 mm.

The iPhone 17 Air will reportedly feature a 6.6-inch display and run on Apple’s new A19 chip—likely the non-Pro version, so don’t expect top-tier performance like the Pro models. There’s also talk of just a single rear camera, which might raise some eyebrows. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests Apple is prioritizing an “innovative form factor design” over packing in flagship features.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about this device, but it’s clear that Apple is trying something different. With the slim design and likely reduced specs, the iPhone 17 Air seems like a gamble to attract customers who prioritize style and form over pro-level features.

I’ll be keeping an eye out for more leaks and updates. If this device is as thin as rumored, it could definitely make waves in the smartphone market.
