Apple never says battery capacity on stage. It talks about hours of video and leaves it there. But EU rules force the company to publish energy labels for every phone it sells there, and those labels went up a day after the launch event, so now we have real numbers.
The two Pro models got very different upgrades
The iPhone 18 Pro has a 4,056 mAh cell and the iPhone 18 Pro Max has 5,391 mAh. Against last year’s models that works out to 68 mAh more for the Pro and 568 mAh more for the Pro Max. One is a rounding error. The other is the biggest jump this line has seen in years.

Your phone may have a bigger battery than the label says
Here’s the catch with these figures. They apply only to EU units, which still have a physical SIM tray, and phones sold without one fit a slightly larger cell in the space the tray would have taken. US models have been eSIM only since the iPhone 14. Leaked figures put those versions nearer 4,288 mAh and 5,567 mAh, though Apple hasn’t published them.
Apple claims up to 43 hours of video on the Pro Max
That’s up from 37 hours on the 17 Pro Max, with the smaller Pro rated for 34 hours against 31 last year. Apple is calling it the largest battery life gain in iPhone history, crediting the cell alongside the A20 Pro chip and reworked cooling.
The labels also rate repairability at C
Both phones score an A overall and a B for drop resistance, with IP68 dust and water certification. Batteries are rated for at least 1,000 charge cycles before dropping below 80% capacity. The C on repairability is the number Apple would probably rather nobody looked at.
