Xiaomi announced the Redmi A4 5G in India over a month ago, marketing it as one of the country’s most affordable 5G smartphones. The price is expected to be around ₹8,499 ($100) with discounts. However, the phone still isn’t available for open sale. That said, Xiaomi has now confirmed that the Redmi A4 5G will officially launch in India on November 20.
It’s unclear whether this launch date will also mark the start of open sales, but I’m hoping we get more clarity soon.
For its price, the Redmi A4 5G packs some decent features. It has a 6.7-inch IPS display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate but sticks to an HD+ resolution. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset, paired with a 5,160mAh battery that supports 18W wired charging.
Storage options include 4GB RAM with 64GB storage or a version with 128GB storage. The cameras are another highlight – there’s a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter.
For under ₹9,000, the Redmi A4 5G seems like a solid budget 5G option. I’ll be watching closely to see how it performs once it finally hits the shelves.
