Xiaomi has been taking its time to launch the Redmi Pad 2 Pro in India. The tablet was released in Europe as early as September, and the Indian customers have been waiting since that moment. This wait will conclude on January 6, with the official launch of the tablet and Redmi Note 15 5G. The sale will start on January 12 through Amazon, Flipkart, and stores of Xiaomi.

What’s the damage to your wallet?
Tipster Abhishek Yadav dropped the pricing details on X, and here’s what we’re looking at:
- 6GB + 128GB (WiFi only) – ₹25,000
- 8GB + 128GB (5G) – ₹28,000
- 8GB + 256GB (5G) – ₹30,000
Should these figures be maintained, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro is in an interesting position. The 25,000 price of the WiFi model is stiffer than the OnePlus Pad Go (about 16,500-20,000) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 + (around 18,500-23,500), but Xiaomi is counting on the superior specifications to justify the higher cost.
What you’re getting for the money
The most impressive thing is the 12,000mAh battery. They are not mistaken when Xiaomi states that it is the biggest ever installed in a 12.1-inch tablet. Comparatively, the OnePlus Pad Go has an 8,000mAh battery, the Samsung Tab A9 + has 7,040mAh, and even the OnePlus Pad Go LTE only has a capacity of 10,050mAh. Paper-wise, that is two full days of use between charges, but in the real world, this will vary depending on the harshness with which you use it.

Its display measures 12.1 inches and has a 2560×1600 (2.5K) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is a worthy upgrade over the competition in this price bracket – the OnePlus Pad Go and Samsung Tab A9+ reach 90Hz. The brightness is up to 600 nits, and thus, the visibility should not be an issue outdoors. It also has Dolby Vision support and has a maximum touch sampling rate of 360Hz, provided one wants to play some games or operate the optional stylus.

Powering everything is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, built on a 4nm process. In benchmarks, this chip scores around 875,000-890,000 on AnTuTu, which puts it roughly on par with the Snapdragon 888 from a few years back. That’s flagship performance from 2021 in a mid-range tablet from 2025. Gaming and multitasking won’t be issues.
It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, which is fabricated using a 4nm process. This chip scores approximately 875,000-890,000 on AnTuTu, which means that it is more or less equal in performance to the Snapdragon 888 of a few years ago. That flagship performance of 2021 in a mid-range tablet of 2025. Playing video games and multitasking will not be a problem.
Charging happens at 33W, and there’s 27W reverse wired charging if you want to use the tablet as a power bank for your phone. The tablet runs Android 15 with HyperOS 2 out of the box.
How it stacks up against the competition
India has become crowded in the middle-hand tablet market. With a minimum price of 25,000, Xiaomi must also persuade consumers that they are getting more than they can get with the lower price brackets.
OnePlus Pad Go (₹16,500-20,000): Smaller 11.3-inch display at 90Hz, MediaTek Helio G99 chip, 8,000mAh battery. Cheaper, but noticeably less capable.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 5G (₹18,500-23,500): 11-inch 90Hz display, older Snapdragon 695, 7,040mAh battery. The Samsung ecosystem advantage is there, but raw specs fall short.
Lenovo Idea Tab 5G (₹19,000): MediaTek Dimensity 6300, 7,040mAh battery, 11-inch display. Decent option if budget matters more than screen size.
The Redmi Pad 2 Pro is superior in terms of display size, refresh rate, battery capacity, and processing power. The question of whether those benefits warrant an extra ₹5,000-8,000 fee or not is up to you. The larger battery and 120Hz display provide a good argument in case you need a tablet with a bit of streaming capabilities, light productivity, and a game or two every now and then.
The verdict so far
The use of the Redmi Pad 2 Pro as the everything is bigger and better offer in the budget tablet market in India by Xiaomi. The 12,000mAh battery is truly staggering, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 provides a good performance, and the 120Hz display must make the day to day usage easy.

The price is reasonable, assuming that these spilled numbers are correct – it is already lower than the European launch price of €380 (approximately 34000 INR) by a fair amount. When Xiaomi goes official on January 6, we will be able to know with certainty.
