Samsung looks to be working on budget-friendly versions of its Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold foldables. These could be part of the “Fan Edition” series, although we don’t have too many details just yet. A new tip, however, sheds some light on what to expect.

Rumor has it that the Galaxy Z Flip FE will use the Exynos 2400 chip. By the time it launches, that SoC will already be a year old, which is a bit different from the usual approach for the S FE series, which tends to feature the latest, if slightly modified, chipset. Samsung’s Exynos 2400e chipset powers the Galaxy S24 FE.

There’s no word yet on what Samsung might choose for the Z Fold FE, so it may end up with a different SoC altogether.

Even if it’s not the latest chip, I think using the Exynos 2400 is a smart way to keep costs down, which ultimately makes foldables more accessible. By 2025, that chipset will still be plenty capable, and more people will have the chance to own a foldable without breaking the bank.
