Samsung Galaxy A02s, A03s, and A21s, Getting Android 12 and One UI 4.1 updates

Three Galaxy A’s phones are receiving Android 12 with One UI 4.1. The June security patch fixes 65 vulnerabilities. These three phones are the Galaxy A21sGalaxy A02s (both launched in 2020 with Android 10), and the Galaxy A03s which were launched last year using Android 11.

This update brings improvements to a variety of Samsung apps. Gallery for example has an improved album sorting and enhanced Stories. You can also “remaster” older photos automatically. Edits can be easily undone. You can also use the privacy feature to remove time and place data from photos before sharing them (a useful feature for services that don’t automatically do this).

Android 12 also has privacy-oriented features like indicators that indicate whether the mic and camera are being used. You can disable them all across the system, rather than per app.

A new search widget is available that can launch the browser under Secret mode. This can prevent tracking from being tracked if this option has been enabled. The Samsung Keyboard now supports Grammarly language suggestions.

This update also includes a revamp of Picture-in-Picture, the Samsung widgets and the Calendar app. The A21s, A02s, and A03s will receive the full One UI 4.1 Pack. The A03s will be receiving One UI 4.1 Core.

These are the firmware versions that will be available for each phone. Galaxy A21s owners should look out for version A217FXU8DVF6. A02s users are for A025FXU4CVF4. A03s users are for A037FXXU1BVFB. These three versions are currently in a trial rollout but will be expanded to other countries shortly.

All three models are eligible to receive 4 year security patches but they weren’t included on the list for phones that will get 3 OS upgrades (the A21s and the A02s already have two).
