Vivo’s bar-style flagships for 2025 are already on the market, so attention now turns to the company’s upcoming foldable series. Based on recent activity across trusted sources, the next model likely to surface is the Vivo X Fold 4—though the final name remains uncertain. Some speculate it could be called the X Fold 5, as many Chinese manufacturers often skip the number “4” in product naming due to cultural preferences.
Reliable leaker Digital Chat Station has shared new information on Weibo, hinting at a launch window sometime in Q3 2025, between July and September. That would place Vivo’s release timeline close to Samsung’s usual Galaxy Z Fold series cycle, potentially setting the stage for some direct market competition.

While the leak does not refer to the product by name, the details point toward the base version of the upcoming foldable—likely the successor to the standard X Fold 3. One of the most notable upgrades could be in the chipset. In 2024, Vivo launched two foldables: the standard model used Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, while the Pro model shipped with the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. That gap in specs helped create a price difference between the models.
This year, the base variant is expected to move to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Pro version might step up further to the anticipated Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite. These kinds of chip upgrades are typical in Vivo’s annual cycle and usually signal better overall performance and efficiency.
Another possible change includes the addition of wireless charging—something that was missing in the base X Fold 3 last year. According to the leak, the new foldable may also feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a periscope telephoto camera. These features had been reserved for the X Fold 3 Pro previously.

There’s also talk of a high-refresh-rate AMOLED inner display, along with a moderate-sized cover screen. On the camera front, the upcoming foldable is rumored to include three 50MP rear sensors. Battery capacity is also expected to improve, with a 6000mAh unit and an IPX8 water-resistance rating possibly in the cards.
There are still many unknowns about both the standard X Fold 4 and the expected Pro variant. But for those keeping an eye on foldable smartphones in 2025, this could be a launch worth watching closely.
