Samsung spent weeks letting leaks do the talking, but they’ve confirmed it now – Galaxy Z TriFold goes on sale December 12 in South Korea. Their 17th foldable, if anyone’s still counting.

The pitch is straightforward: dual titanium hinges fold a 10-inch screen down to pocket size. Technically coat pocket size, but you get the idea.

The folding setup

Samsung put the cover screen on the back instead of the front, like most tri-folds do. The main display folds inward – both sides meet in the middle, keeping everything protected when closed. Huawei’s Mate XT leaves parts of the screen exposed. Different approach.

Galaxy Z TriFold

Unfold it completely, and you’ve got 10 inches at 2,160 x 1,584px. Adaptive refresh from 1Hz to 120Hz, brightness maxes at 1,600 nits. There’s a punch-hole camera on the right – 10MP for selfies. Protective film over the whole thing, like their other foldables.

Cover screen is 6.5 inches, 21:9 ratio. Taller and skinnier than standard phones. Actually gets brighter than the main display – 2,600 nits peak. Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 covers it. Has its own 10MP camera.

Software for all that space

OneUI 8 running Android 16. Three full apps side by side in portrait mode – not cramped windows, proper full-sized apps across those 10 inches.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Screen

Samsung DeX works standalone now. Pull it from Quick Settings, and you get desktop mode without cables. A Bluetooth mouse and keyboard turn it into a portable workstation. Whether anyone wants to actually work this way is debatable, but it’s there.

Build details

Advanced Armor Aluminum keeps the weight manageable. The thinnest point hits 3.9mm. Folded dimensions: 159.2 x 75 x 12.9mm, 309 grams total. Surprisingly light considering what you’re getting.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Slimness

IP48 rating – same dust and water resistance as the Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. Not waterproof, but better than nothing.

Hardware

Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, same processor as the Z Fold7. Qualcomm’s already shipping the 8 Elite Gen 5, so this is running last-gen silicon. Comes with 16GB RAM, either 512GB or 1TB storage.

Cameras borrowed from the Z Fold7, too. 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main sensor, 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, 12MP ultrawide. Nothing experimental here.

Battery splits 5,600mAh across three cells – one in each back panel. 45W wired charging, 15W wireless.

Availability

One color option: Crafted Black. Samsung hasn’t announced pricing, which usually means it’s high enough they’re burying that detail for now.

South Korea gets it on December 12. China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the U.S. are listed as “coming soon” with no specific dates. Everywhere else, you’re either waiting indefinitely or figuring out how to import.
