Galaxy Unpacked is next week in San Francisco, and we’re at the stage where pretty much everything about the S26 series has leaked already. The latest bit comes from Ice Universe, who says the Galaxy S26 Ultra is dropping its Samsung-made selfie sensor for a Sony one.
The S25 Ultra used a Samsung ISOCELL 3LU for its front camera. That’s apparently gone. In its place, a Sony sensor — though the resolution isn’t changing. Still 12MP. The sensor size (1/3.2-inch), pixel size (1.12µm), and aperture (f/2.2) are all reportedly staying put, too, so on a spec sheet it won’t look dramatically different from last year’s phone.

Where it does change is the field of view. The S26 Ultra’s selfie camera is said to go wider at 85 degrees, which means more room in frame when you’re squeezing people into a group shot or doing a video call from your sofa. The hole-punch cutout is apparently a bit bigger as well — probably to fit the new hardware underneath.
Nobody’s said exactly what the Sony sensor actually improves. Could be low-light performance. Could be colour accuracy or dynamic range. Samsung isn’t going to swap suppliers for no reason, so something’s clearly better about this unit — we just don’t know what yet. Next week should clear that up when the phone gets its official reveal.
