Samsung typically announces its new Galaxy S phones in January each year. For example, the S25 is a model released in January 2025. But there have been news coming out of Korea that they we’ll be pushing to March 2026, for the very same S26 devices, due to production problems. That would represent a break from the typical schedule, giving other companies, including Apple, more time to sell their phones before comparable products become available.

Production Schedule Changes

Factories were to begin building all three models of the S26 in December 2025. That includes the more affordable S26, becoming slightly larger with the S26+, and all-out behemoth with the top-tier S26 Ultra. Now, plans have shifted. The Ultra begins in December and is just fine as it is. The plain S26 and S26+ don’t follow until January 2026. This sort of pushback is not surprising given that Samsung had shelved a variant called the S26 Edge, which comes with a curved screen. With it now canceled, they had to redesign the S26+ with an addition of one or two months to finalize its production. The S26 and Ultra designs are wrapped on schedule, so they’re flying forward.

What This Means for Launch

With parts coming out later, Samsung can’t stock up enough phones for a January event. They need time to make, test, and ship units worldwide. A March launch fits better with the new timeline. Some leaks say February, but most point to March. This delay could help fix any last issues, but it might frustrate fans waiting for upgrades like faster chips or better cameras.

Series Overview

The S26 line sticks to three phones: standard for everyday use, plus for bigger screen lovers, and ultra for pros with extras like a pen. No edge or pro models now. Prices might start at $800 for base, $1000 for plus, $1200 for ultra—similar to S25 deals where 256GB ultra goes for $689.

Past Launch Dates Table

Here’s how Samsung timed recent S phones:

SeriesPlanned MonthActual ReleaseNotes on Timing
S23JanuaryJanuary 2023On schedule
S24JanuaryJanuary 2024AI features highlighted
S25JanuaryJanuary 2025Steady after delays in past
S26JanuaryMarch 2026?Production snag from design change

This table shows the pattern and the possible break for S26.

In the end, these are rumors from supply chain folks. Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything yet. If true, it gives more time for tweaks, but you might stick with your current phone longer. Watch for official
