Samsung seems ready to test slim phone designs again, potentially bringing back a Galaxy Alpha-inspired approach. According to reports from Korean sources, Samsung is planning a slim version of one of its Galaxy S25 models, launching separately a few months after the main S25 series debuts next year, featuring the usual trio: the standard, Plus, and Ultra models. The “Slim” edition will aim to be noticeably thinner, much like the recent Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition focused on compactness.

It’s still unclear which Galaxy S25 model will serve as the base for this slimmed-down variant, but the concept could help Samsung gauge interest in slimmer devices. If it resonates well, the trend might shape the Galaxy S26 lineup. An earlier report from The Elec suggested that Samsung could reimagine the Galaxy S25 FE as a “Slim” model, strategically releasing it after the primary S25 phones to avoid sales overlap.

Interestingly, Samsung isn’t the only one thinking in this direction—Apple is reportedly eyeing a slimmer iPhone model too, aiming to replace the underperforming Plus version. Samsung, however, will use the S25 Slim as a trial, testing whether consumers value slimness in design enough to justify its impact on device features, like battery life or camera quality, before potentially reshaping its core Galaxy S line.
