From, India

Tecno is dropping their new Pova Slim 5G phone on September 4 in India, and it’s getting buzz for being super thin while packing 5G and a curved screen that they say makes it the slimmest one out there like that. If you remember that Spark Slim concept they showed off at MWC back in February, this looks a lot like it coming to life, just rebranded for the Pova line. They teased it as measuring around 5.75mm thick, which beats out most phones without skimping on the battery or display. Hands-on stuff from the concept gave a peek at the design—sleek, lightweight, with that premium feel you don’t always get in mid-range stuff. Now it’s hitting Flipkart, so easy to grab online, and they’ve got a microsite up already spilling some beans on what to expect.

What stands out first is the AI side of things. Tecno baked in their Ella assistant that handles Indian languages right out of the box, like Hindi or Tamil, so it feels more local and useful for folks who aren’t all about English. Then there’s extras like Circle to Search where you draw on the screen to look stuff up quick, and a writing helper that tweaks your texts or notes without much fuss. They didn’t stop there—call features got a boost too, with auto-answering, noise cutting based on your voice, and that No Network Communication trick. Basically, it lets you keep calls going even in dead zones, like basements or spotty areas, by smartly hopping between signals or using WiFi calling without drops. Sources say it works up to 800 meters in some setups, which could be a game-changer if you’re in places with weak coverage. All this runs on Android 15 with their HiOS skin, keeping things smooth without bloat.

On the hardware, rumors line up with a 6.78-inch OLED screen that’s curved for that immersive look, hitting 144Hz refresh so scrolling and games feel buttery. Brightness goes high enough for outdoor use, and it’s protected well. Camera wise, expect a 50MP main shooter on the back, maybe with a secondary for depth, and a front one around 13MP for selfies that can do 4K video. Battery’s pegged at 5,200mAh, which should last a full day easy, especially with 45W charging to juice up fast. Under the hood, it’s probably a MediaTek Dimensity chip like the 7300, paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, enough for multitasking without hiccups. The back has this Dynamic Mood Light strip around the cameras that lights up for notifications or calls, adding some flair without being over the top. Colors might include stuff like Neon Cyan or Magic Silver, giving options for different tastes.

Overall, if you’re hunting for something thin that doesn’t feel cheap, this could fit the bill without breaking the bank—pricing isn’t out yet, but it slots into that affordable 5G spot. Compared to the concept, they’ve kept the slim vibe but added real-world tweaks like better AI and connectivity that make it practical. If past Tecno phones are any clue, it’ll handle gaming and daily stuff fine, though keep an eye on software updates since they promise at least a couple years of security patches. Flipkart’s got the teaser live, so check that for more as launch gets close. If it lives up to the hype, it might shake up the slim phone game against bigger names.
