You might have caught wind of that old 5.75mm Spark Slim concept from Tecno getting a rebrand to Pova Slim to make it to shelves. But forget the rumors—Tecno just dropped both phones at the same time, each with its own thickness twist to chase world records. Here’s the full scoop, beefed up with extra details on what makes them stand out, plus some tips on why this matters if you’re shopping for a slim phone.

What’s the Deal with These Two?

Tecno rolled out the Spark Slim 4G and Pova Slim 5G through an official site in Asia, with the big reveal happening around September 4, 2025. Specs leaked early, so we know everything already. They’re basically twins under the hood, but split on connectivity—one’s 4G, the other’s 5G. Spark Slim clocks in at 5.93mm thick, a hair thicker than the March concept but still a record-breaker for entry-level stuff. Pova Slim 5G sits at 5.95mm, matching up with Infinix’s Hot 60 Pro Plus for that slim crown. Both weigh just 156 grams, so they’re light enough to forget in your pocket. If you’re tired of bulky phones that feel like bricks, these cut the fat without skimping on battery or screen size.

To pull this off, Tecno had to rethink how they build phones from the ground up. They slimmed down every part—lighter materials, tighter fits. For example, the USB Type-C port is only 0.45mm thick on both. The VC cooling setup, which keeps things from overheating during games or heavy use, is a razor-thin 0.3mm. Batteries measure 4.04mm from the side, and the back panel uses aerospace-grade fiberglass at 0.36mm. Promo shots break it down layer by layer, showing how they stacked it all without wasting space. This isn’t just for show; it means better heat control and less bulk, which helps if you carry your phone all day or slip it into tight jeans.

That Cool Mood Light and Camera Setup

One standout on the back is the Mood Light Bar LED around the camera bump—it’s like a customizable notification light with animations and effects. You can set it to flash for calls, texts, or apps, adding some fun without needing to flip the phone over. Both models pack a 50MP main camera plus a 2MP helper for depth or macros, and up front there’s a 32MP selfie shooter punched into the screen. Don’t expect pro-level photography, but for everyday snaps, social media, or video calls, it holds up. The LED bar ties in here too, lighting up for shots or as a fill light in dim spots.

Screen That Pops

No corners cut on the display—both get a 6.78-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 4500 nits brightness. That means smooth scrolling, vibrant colors for movies or games, and it’s bright enough to see outside even in harsh sun. Resolution hits 1224 x 2720 pixels, sharp for the price range. If you’re into mobile gaming or binge-watching, this setup won’t disappoint; the high refresh cuts lag, and the curve adds that premium feel without jacking up the cost.

Power Under the Hood

Here’s where they differ: Spark Slim runs on MediaTek’s Helio G200 chip for solid 4G performance—good for daily tasks like browsing, apps, and light gaming. Pova Slim 5G steps up with the Dimensity 6400, bringing 5G speeds for faster downloads and streaming if you’re in a covered area. Both come with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage (expandable via microSD), so multitasking won’t stutter. They’re not flagships, but for under $250, they punch above their weight. Throw in that thin VC cooling, and you can game longer without the phone getting hot and throttling speed.

Battery Life That Lasts

Both pack a 5160mAh battery, which is impressive for how thin they are—most slim phones sacrifice capacity, but these don’t. With 45W fast charging, you can top up quick; expect a full charge in under an hour. Real-world use? You’ll get through a day of heavy scrolling, calls, and videos easy, maybe two if you’re light on it. IP64 rating means they’re dust-proof and can handle splashes, so no worries about rain or spills. If battery anxiety is your thing, these fix it without adding bulk.

Software and Extra Bits

Out of the box, they run Android 15 with Tecno’s HiOS skin on top—clean, customizable, with features like app drawers and gesture controls. No bloatware overload, and updates should come for a couple years. Other perks: stereo speakers for better sound, in-display fingerprint scanner for quick unlocks, and NFC on the 5G model for payments. Colors include black, blue, and green options, with a matte finish that resists fingerprints.

Why Pick These Over Others?

Compared to stuff like the Samsung A series or budget Xiaomi, these win on thinness and lightness—perfect if you hate heavy phones but want big screens and batteries. Pros: Record slim build without weak spots, bright display, decent cameras, and affordable 5G. Downsides? Cameras aren’t top-tier, and storage maxes at 256GB base (though expandable). If you’re in India, Pova Slim 5G starts at ₹19,999 (around $238), available on Amazon and stores from September 6, 2025. Spark Slim might hit other markets soon; prices could vary, but expect similar. Overall, if slim is your priority, these are hard to beat—great for students, travelers, or anyone ditching bulky cases. Tecno’s dropping more details soon, so check back for global rollout.
